When I was younger, I could eat anything I wanted. I literally did not care about my body and ate ice cream for breakfast. When I hit nineteen, the weight started slowly creeping up. Initially it was just a little here and there. A kilo or two at a time – not so much that you would really notice. Then my clothes started to feel pretty tight. I simply bought new clothes. After that it just seemed to spiral. Before I knew it I had gone up five dress sizes and was feeling rather horrible about myself.
Initially, I was in denial – I wrapped myself up in dark colours and refused to look at the plus size clothing in stores or catalogues. I was convinced that I would look awful, no matter what I wore so I hid out in clothes that were too big. I got to such a low point that I remember buying a dressing gown that was two sizes too big because it was on special. My reasoning, I could always grow into it. (more…)

I do a lot of writing and, consequently, a lot of research. It is an integral part of my job and is one of the parts I enjoy most. When I received the assignment to write about curvy clothing, I was quite intrigued because I am also on the big side. (I like to say “big-boned” but we all know what that means.) Anyhow, I was looking for a good angle to cover curvy clothing and was finding it a little difficult – after all there is truly a wealth of info out there. I considered writing a “How to” article about curvy clothing but felt that it had been done before so I decided to look into an aspect that I knew very little about – ordering curvy clothing online.
